I’m supporting our client, a high-growth, AI-native ERP company, as they scale their engineering team to build the financial operating system for the next generation of companies.
They serve accounting and finance teams at fast-growing businesses where speed, accuracy, and insight genuinely matter. The product is already live and trusted by modern, AI-first companies, and the focus now is on scaling a highly opinionated, unified platform that can support real-time closes, complex workflows, and intelligent automation.
This is a senior, hands-on engineering role with real influence. You’ll work across the software lifecycle, partner closely with product and design, and help shape technical direction in a system that sits at the financial core of modern companies.

What You’ll Do
Own Technical Decisions

Lead architectural discussions across infrastructure and application layers

Help define engineering standards and best practices

Shape technical strategy with an eye toward scalability and longevity
Build & Ship Core Platform Features

Work closely with Product and Design to translate customer needs into robust solutions

Advocate for technical trade-offs that balance product velocity and engineering excellence

Build systems that are reliable, auditable, and production-grade
Drive Quality & Reliability

Champion continuous delivery and modern deployment practices

Lead by example in testing, automation, and quality-first development

Own production reliability, monitoring, and incident response
Stay Close to Customers

Participate in customer research and feedback loops

Translate real-world finance and accounting workflows into technical requirements

Represent the customer perspective in engineering decisions
Raise the Bar

Mentor engineers through code reviews and collaboration

Contribute to a culture of learning, feedback, and high standards

Help scale engineering practices as the company grows
What They’re Looking For
-
5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong track record on scalable systems
-
Backend-focused engineer with experience in Kotlin, Java, or JVM-based languages
-
Comfort working across object-oriented and functional paradigms
-
Experience with modern web frameworks; TypeScript experience is a plus
-
Strong product intuition and the ability to solve real user problems pragmatically

Comfortable working independently in a fast-moving, high-ownership environment
Working Model

Hybrid setup with in-office collaboration Tuesdays and Thursdays, plus one flexible day

Based within commuting distance of NYC or San Francisco, or willing to relocate

In-person collaboration is valued and used intentionally
