Position Overview
As Head of Talent, you will own and build the company’s hiring engine from the ground up during a critical phase of growth. This is a founding, hands-on individual contributor role responsible for attracting, assessing, and closing top-tier talent across engineering, product, compliance, go-to-market, and leadership roles within the crypto and fintech ecosystem.
You’ll operate as a strategic partner to founders and functional leaders while remaining deeply involved in execution — sourcing, screening, interviewing, and closing candidates yourself. Your work will directly shape company culture, execution velocity, and the ability to scale a high-performing, compliant, and mission-driven team in one of the most complex and fast-moving markets in tech.
Key Responsibilities
Build & Own the Talent Function
- Serve as the first and sole Talent hire, owning the full recruiting lifecycle from role definition through offer close and onboarding support.
- Design and implement scalable recruiting processes, tools, and hiring frameworks suitable for a high-growth Series A company.
- Partner with founders and department heads to translate business goals into clear hiring plans and headcount priorities.
- Establish employer branding foundations, candidate experience standards, and hiring best practices.
Full-Cycle Recruiting Execution
- Personally source, screen, interview, and close candidates across Engineering, Product, Compliance, Legal, Sales, Client Success, and Operations.
- Develop creative sourcing strategies across crypto-native communities, fintech networks, referrals, and outbound channels.
- Run structured interview processes, including competency-based assessments and scorecard-driven evaluations.
- Manage offer strategy, compensation alignment, and closing conversations in competitive markets.
Crypto / Blockchain Talent Expertise
- Leverage deep knowledge of the crypto and blockchain ecosystem to assess technical, regulatory, and cultural fit.
- Recruit for specialized roles across blockchain engineering, smart contracts, infrastructure, payments, compliance, risk, and finance.
- Advise hiring managers on market dynamics, talent availability, compensation benchmarks, and hiring trade-offs.
- Maintain a strong network of crypto-native operators, engineers, and leaders.
Hiring Strategy & Stakeholder Partnership
- Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on org design, hiring sequencing, and talent risks.
- Drive alignment across founders, hiring managers, and interviewers to ensure efficient, high-signal hiring decisions.
- Track and report on hiring metrics including time-to-fill, pipeline quality, candidate conversion, and hiring velocity.
- Continuously refine hiring processes based on data, feedback, and company stage.
Culture, Compliance & Candidate Experience
- Ensure a high-quality, inclusive, and transparent candidate experience aligned with company values.
- Support compliant hiring practices across jurisdictions, including remote and distributed team considerations.
- Partner with Legal and Compliance to ensure recruiting practices align with regulatory expectations.
- Influence early culture by hiring individuals who raise the bar for performance, integrity, and collaboration.
Qualifications
- 7–10 years of experience in full-cycle recruiting or talent leadership roles within crypto, blockchain, fintech, or deep technical startups.
- Proven experience recruiting in the crypto / blockchain ecosystem, including engineering and non-technical roles.
- Proven roladecks in the US Fintech/Crypto/Blockchain space.
- Track record of hiring high-impact talent in early-stage or high-growth environments.
- Strong experience partnering directly with founders and executive leadership.
- Comfortable operating as a hands-on IC while setting strategy and process.
