Blockchain Engineer NYC | $240k–$280K Base + Equity

A venture-backed crypto startup is hiring a Blockchain Engineer to join their small, in-person team in New York. The company is building a consumer trading platform that enables users to discover and trade trends, combining real-time social data with DeFi rails to create a new asset class based on attention.

This role is core to the product and will focus on designing and building smart contract infrastructure, backend trading systems, and performant code that supports real-time, trend-driven markets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and deploy smart contracts (Solidity + Foundry) powering perpetuals, options, or CLOBs
• Build and scale backend infrastructure using Rust
• Interface with real-time market data and on-chain activity
• Collaborate directly with founders, quant researchers, and product designers
• Take ownership of key technical decisions in a fast-paced startup environment

Must-Have Requirements:

• 4+ years of backend engineering experience (Rust or Java preferred)
• Strong hands-on experience with DeFi smart contracts in production environments
• Familiarity with perpetual futures or market-making mechanisms
• Previous work in DeFi protocols such as Uniswap, dydx, Flashbots, Solana, Gelo Labs, or Coinbase
• Based in NYC and comfortable working onsite full-time
• Strong communication skills and a bias toward ownership and action

Compensation:

• Base salary: $240K-$280k
• Equity: 0.4%–1%
• Token upside component
